Harry & David pears!) It's super, super easy, and since it's homemade, it's fancy enough to serve guests. Here's how: Peel and thinly slice 4 medium ripe pears, and put in greased 8 x 8 baking dish. Combine 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon allspice and 1/8 teaspoon ginger and sprinkle it over the pears. Then combine 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 brown sugar, and cut in 1/4 cup cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over pears. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes and serve warm.
